Joni Davies (vocals, guitar, harp, ukulele, banjitar): Originally from Arkansas, Joni has strong roots in bluegrass and country music and spent several years playing with the popular local bluegrass band, Jimmy Chickenpants. With a powerful lead voice, a gift for singing harmonies, and skill on four instruments, Joni is a big part of SOUND SQUAD’s identity as a fun party band.

John Schlagheck (vocals, guitar): From Michigan, John graduated from Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles in 1996 before working with Michigan bands Stonerock Blues and Subliminal Limo. Locally, from 2017 to 2020, John was a member of the original music band Blue Avenue. John is also a founding member of the Trust Punks, a Michigan-based original rock band that continues to produce new music. John is SOUND SQUAD’s lead guitarist and co-vocalist with Joni.

Don Jacobs (drums): Don has played live music in Portland and the Santa Cruz area with numerous groups including Bump, the Cleveland Cowboys, and Blues Ranch. Currently, Don plays drums in the Santa Cruz area band American Underdog. A versatile player, Don’s range works perfectly with SOUND SQUAD’s eclectic mix of musical styles.

Dana Schlagheck (bass): Dana’s bass work focuses on rocking blues and country rock rhythms with a steady beat and traditional approach. With her strong connection with Jacobs, Dana continues to improve the rhythm and drive that powers the band. Dana is also the bass player for the Trust Punks and has made six studio recordings with the band.
